As World Environment Day approaches on June 5th, elago is proud to highlight our ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability. Through rigorous analysis and a steadfast dedication to reducing our carbon footprint, elago is setting an example of responsible corporate contributions to sustainability.

Small Footprint, Big Impact

Following a comprehensive assessment by ClimatePartner, elago’s carbon footprint has been calculated at approximately 53 metric tons of CO₂ for the past year. To put this into perspective, our emissions are equivalent to those of just six average European individuals. This achievement is particularly noteworthy when compared to the carbon footprints of major corporations. For instance, tech giants like Microsoft and Google, despite their extensive sustainability efforts, report emissions in the hundreds of thousands of tons annually. In contrast, elago’s footprint is a fraction of that, underscoring our effective and impactful environmental practices. Here's how we've reduced our carbon footprint.

Sustainable Transportation Practices

By limiting air shipments and increasing the use of ocean vessels, here at elago we have reduced CO2 emissions by over 300 metric tons since 2021 by adopting such practices. In addition, when shopping at elago, you can take part in Carbon Neutral Shipping. A route is automatically calculated and offsets the carbon emissions associated with any delivery that is covered with our carbon neutral program.

Environmentally Conscious Packaging

At elago, we use soy ink and FSC-certified packaging. Soy ink is gentler on the environment and allows for more efficient paper recycling. The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) ensures that wood products come from sustainable, well-managed forests. For every tree used, another is planted.

Utilizing Renewable Energy

With our HQ based in San Diego, we are no stranger to appreciating and maintaining the natural world. That's why from solar panels to employee carpool incentives, elago's headquarters in California is 100% powered by renewable energy.
